Our Mission: Respecting our culture, traditions and beliefs, we are building economic opportunities, that are accessible, beneficial and inclusive. As the economic arm of the shíshálh Nation, we build, manage and promote business opportunities for our members, partners and stakeholders.

Tsain-Ko Development Corporation (“TKDC”) is the parent company of the shíshálh Nation’s economic development arm and is comprised of a number of corporations and limited partnerships involved in carrying out its four primary economic functions: Natural Resources, Commercial Properties, Capacity Building, and Business Support. The companies that TKDC manages include: Tsain-Ko Centre, Tsain-Ko Forestry, Tsain-Ko Blue Run of River, Tsain-Ko Run of River Access, Tsain-Ko Properties, Tsain-Ko Services, and the newly formed Tsain-Ko Housing Society.

Our business strategies are intended to sustain both renewable and non-renewable resources for present and future use. By considering how best to use the particular resource, its productivity is prolonged, and its relationship with the environment is protected.

The Tsain-Ko Land Development Corporation is the General Partner responsible for the development of the Tsain-Ko Centre Limited Partnership. We address all leasing inquiries, negotiate leases, provide continuous communications with the tenants, and manage all common area responsibilities including landscaping, maintenance and janitorial duties. Currently, we are in the construction stages for Phase 3 on the existing mall site.

As the economic development arm of the shíshálh Nation, Tsain-Ko Development Corporation can provide certain levels of mentoring and coaching support for Nation members looking to establish a new business, expand or acquire an existing business, implement a marketing plan, or seek different sources of funding.

Employment & Training Initiatives

Job creation is important to us. We periodically offer fantastic employment and contract opportunities in accounting, business management, bookkeeping, maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, forestry, engineering, silviculture, labourers, road builders, heavy equipment operators, fallers, tree planters, booming and blasting. The Tsain-Ko Group is currently exploring opportunities for growth and development in the shíshálh Nation through the development of business partnerships.

Who We Are

Tsain-Ko Group of Companies is comprised of seven different entities. The Tsain-Ko Development Corporation is the parent company of the shíshálh Nation’s Economic Development arm. It acts as the sole shareholder of all of the other corporations.

The Centre

Our flagship commercial property, the Tsain-Ko Centre is home to many national retailers. Consisting of over 70,500 square feet and expanding, the Centre is responsible for all management, operations, leasing, and communications.

Properties

A collaborative housing development with a unique approach to social responsibility. While still in the early stages of development, this project was recently awarded a sizable grant from BC Housing, through the BC Indigenous Housing Fund.  Development of the project will continue through 2019 as our team works closely with BC Housing to finalize details and get ready for construction.

Forestry Development

Tsain-Ko Forestry Development Corporation holds the Forest Licenses on behalf of the shíshálh Nation and oversees management of those licenses.

As responsible stewards of the land, our forest companies support the shíshálh Nation's stewardship goals and requirements for the harvest of timber and preservation of the land within the territory. Our relationships with forest companies and contractors builds on respect and commitment towards a mutually beneficial future.

Narrows Inlet Hydro Project

The hydroelectric project located within shíshálh Nation territory at the northern end of the Narrows Inlet, in the Tzonnie River valley. The project is operated by tems sayamkwu Limited Partnership, a joint venture with BluEarth Renewables Inc. and consists of three small hydro generating stations and will have the capacity to generate 33 MW.
